My mother used to roll her eyes and say ‘what on earth is that idiot boy up to now’….

So when I decided to walk the Camino She was very much in my mind. I am not very good with rules and regulations and therefore set off on my Camino with a 40 year old canvas ruck sack and enough socks and pants to last the full 14 days. Ohh what a rookie error!

As it turned out my rucksack didn’t quite catch the same flight as me so after walking with really the bear minimum, when it eventually caught up with me I realised how little I really needed.

Walking the Camino Primitivo, I discovered a lot about myself, some not so new - I am still scared of dogs and not very good in the mornings but I found that I have great resilience and determination. I was very ill prepared for this Camino but once you start walking, I found that I learnt how to best prepare for the next day, find the best food to eat and when to follow the crowd!
